Introduction
This is a selection of photographs taken in Canada during our month long holiday to Canada and Alaska in June/July 2004.
The first eight days were spent travelling by car on a circular route from Vancouver which took in the Rocky Mountains as we made our way across to Jasper and Banff, returning via Revelstoke to visit the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) Museum and Hydro Electric Dam.
We returned to Vancouver after a journey of 2,432 km in time to participate in Canada Day on the 1st July before setting sail for a week long cruise along the Inside Passage to Alaska and a further six day land-tour to Denali National Park.
The final four days of our holiday in the middle of July was spent winding down in Vancouver Island before returning to the UK.
Of the 1600+ photographs taken during the entire holiday, I have chosen seventy four that I think are of interest and these are shown in galleries on the following pages.
No amount of photographs can do justice to this wonderful part of the world. However, if you have never been to Western Canada before, I do hope the following pages give you some idea what to expect if you get the chance to visit this part of Canada. It has so much to offer in the way of unspoilt scenery, uncrowded roads, courteous driving and excellent food, drink and Canadian hospitality
